Sports Odds Scoring

Competitions can be scored on either a point for correct prediction, or points based on the betting odds for the match or race. If a team is heavily favored to win according to the odds, correctly picking that team to win may yield fewer points compared to correctly predicting an upset by the underdog.

By incorporating betting odds into the scoring system, Fan Picks competitions add an element of strategy and risk assessment for participants. It encourages them to consider not only the likelihood of a team winning but also the potential payoff for making bold predictions. Ultimately, such competitions offer an engaging way for sports fans to test their predictive skills while adding an extra layer of excitement to the games they love.

You can also utilise the double chance odds in your competition, regardless of whether you are using the double chance win option for picking. Like the regular sports odds, double chance odds are set based on the likelihood of a team either winning, but in this case, also drawing the match. Points for double change are smaller than the win only points and add can help keep competition scoring closer while still adding a level of skill by using sports odds

Points Lines

Points lines (also known as handicaps or spreads) are an alternative to scoring based on betting odds. Correct picks are influenced by the margin of victory rather than simply picking the winning team. A margin is for each fixture to level the playing field between the two teams of varying strengths. It indicates the number of points that the favored team is expected to win by or the underdog is expected to lose by.

In these Fan Picks competitions, participants must predict not only which team will win but also whether they will do so by a margin greater than or less than the betting points line. For example, if the points line favors Team A by 7 points against Team B, participants must predict if Team A will win by more than 7 points (covering the spread) or if Team B will lose by less than 7 points (beating the spread).

Correct Score & Margin Games

An alternate to competitions where participants select the winner of matches, correct score and margin competitions force participants to select either the margin of victory or the exact final score in each game. Participants score points for either correctly predicting the exact margin or score, or accumulate points based on how far away from the margin or score their prediction was

For example, instead of just picking Team A to beat Team B, participants would have to predict Team A and Team B's prceise score

Margin and correct scoring can be used as either the main compeition scoring, or as a tie breaker option in traditional games, where participants who are tied on scores are seperated by the margin or correct score points

Single Pick Competitions

An alternate to competitions where participants make a pick on every game in the league, single pick competitions is a simplified high stakes selection game where, instead of predicting the outcomes of every game within the round, participants are tasked with selecting just one result.

Single pick competitions are an all or nothing scoring system each week where participants either win or lose. This increases the stakes and the intesity of picks, especially when combined with sports odds scoring where a participant could either score big or score nothing
